The Church Family

With the input and support of his wife, children, and other family members, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Nika Water Company, Jeff Church, began Nika Water in 2009. After choosing to take a family trip to Ethiopia and Kenya, the Churches had become fully affected by the unfortunate circumstances amongst the beautiful sceneries and community cultures. The idea to sell a product relatable to the issues of areas like this, and subsequently donate the profits, was initiated by the Church children of Nina, Josh, Rachel, and Jacob. Collaborating further with cousins Isaac and Aaron Perez, Nika Water was a reality.

In addition to common Nika responsibilities, all of the family members speak frequently about social entrepreneurship and how sustainability through a triple bottom line approach is a key towards ending societal problems and challenges. The individual family members have had the opportunity to present at many universities, high schools, and elsewhere throughout the US, onto pics ranging from leadership to finding your passion and the coming wave of social entrepreneurship. Numerous articles on Nika and the family have also been written, including an article on Jeff in Entrepreneur Magazine in November 2010.

Since the company’s inception, the family members, along with the rest of the Nika Water team, have been able to visit several of the project sites in which they have contributed to, and stay connected to the places and people for whom Nika was created.

In 2011 Jeff and his wife Linda completed their first book titled, “A Thirst for Change – How Social Entrepreneurship Can Solve Societies Most Challenging Issues.”

Jeff has had a successful career in buying, building, and selling various businesses. Jeff earned an M.B.A at Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Accounting at Michigan State University. In 1983 he became a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Ohio.

The Stone Family

Philanthropy is integrated into the everyday lives of the Stone family, so it was a natural extension of prior activities for Co-Founder of Nika Water Company, Mike Stone, to become part of the idea to create a new brand of bottled water, making a difference in people’s lives. The Stones involved their own children, Rachel and Samantha, in developing a sustainable business concept to benefit both society and environment. Acting with the Church family, Nika Water was born in 2009.

Since 2009, the Stones have been on several Nika trips, including Nicaragua and Kenya, as well as participated in many of the fundraisers and other efforts of the company. The trips have been important life experiences for their young daughters. Being involved in Nika’s grassroots style marketing has helped provide, early in life, a window into ideas of entrepreneurialism.

As Nika Water continues to grow, Mike and his wife Karen, will continue to engage in an integral way in the business by supporting the development of a strong company, positively influencing our planet and global humanitarian issues, and nurturing the next generation of great minds.

Mike has had a successful investment career. He earned an M.B.A at Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics at Duke University.
